The reflection of a teenage internationist

It's been about 2 days since I came back from my trip Europe and man, has my perspective on the United States. Like for example, just the other day I was asked how was the Queen of england doing by, my friend Dutch and I said "Oh um I really didn't get a chance to see her because she wasn't in the country at that time". Dutch just said" Man, stop lying I saw you at the Buckingham Place messing with the guards with long furry hats." I just looked at him crazy like he just had killed someone right in front of me. then, I just walked away into my house to think on some things. I almos...

It's been about a week since my trip to Europe. I have stablized a little sine the encounter with Dutch. I have another comment about the Inagnorate people in the united states. Why is that when most people think of Amesterdam they just think of free marjuana or weed. They just know about that one law in the country that allows people to smoke weed without any persucution. I tell you most people just don't know about the windmills, flowers, and people that live and grow there. By the ...

It's week 3 of my journal of Issues. Today's international issue: the idea of Americans in european countries. yeah, I said it. Most countries think that all americans are stupid and idiotic. That is very untrue about America because we had the Statue of Liberty made by a France Artist as a Alliance with France. Also, the offices in the oval office and the buckingham palace are twins that if brought together will look exactly Identical and problaly will fit to make on jumbo desk. Anyway, those desk are a sign of friendship and Allance between the United States and England. By the way, When I went to France, Paris ONe of my friends was called an American N**** by an African French man. If that's not racial profiling than I don't know what it is. We were all about to jump this man when the police got in the way and mess everything up. Then ....

The Best 3 Days Ever the NYC By: Torrence Johnson

The Best Day Ever the NYC By: Torrence Johnson

well, it's was October of last yearand, I had just been randomly picked to be apart of plumline, which was a organizion that send Highschools to new york city to learn about leadership. I went with some friends from church their names were Briannia Johnson and Gaylen. we were there with a few different church from the chicago region. during this trip we were in about 5 diferent groups with 1 chaperon per group. In my group our chaperon's name was Angel. She had been on this trip many time. there were 5 to a group. Through out that whole trip we walked about  the length of all 3 islands if therer were in a straight.
Well ,we all met at the O’Hare International Airport toe get on the plane. And there were al least 15 ID checkers, the were all like  the Mcdonlad’s  cashers with the Inablilty to be happy or even fake it at all because they must really like to tick people off with all these attendences who are always on break for like hours and hours and make you wait all hours in the night then just to come back the very next day with you at their desk smelling real funky and musty, then they have the nerve to get mad at u when u come and had them your ID card. Anyway, After about 5 hours of passing my ID cards to about 15 to 20 people we all had finally made it to the plane.
We all fell a sleep on the plane and woke up in New York city, The best worst place on the Planet, everyone there had the additutide of a very aggreseive wolverine that had just got out of a fight and had ribids for the past 2 weeks. so in short they were very aggreseive people. During that whole first day we had walked about the length of of asia because we had to walk to our hotel, drop off our bags, and walk to our place for dinner and then back to the hotel.
The second day we got up about 7:30 am to walk all the way to a local grocery store and get breakfast then, take our breakfast all the way to the Methodist Church of U.N(United Nations) which was right in front of the U.N.We stayed at the church for the Sceminar which was really good by the way. Over the course of that day, we went to china town and bought souviners, I bought some goleden elephants, and a sword. But, some told my mom and she made me take the sword back for some had relaving balls. then, My friends: Mark, Stephen, Dutch, and Vlad, and I had walked to the park were we and the others had did a little get to know each other exersice where no one was able th find out anything about the person they were assigned because we were all so hungry.
So, we all had walked off to a noodle shop that was right a cross the street from the Park. Just as I was about to leave I left my Jacket and book that I had brought with me on the trip. I didn't realize it until I was seating down in the reasturante stuffing my face with noodles and dumplings. I looked every execpt the park where I last say it because I thought the Old homeless man that was asleep on the bench across from us had been Eyeing my book and really my Jacket. I told my mother and grandparents when we went back to the hotel and when, we got back to chicago. On that last day was actually went in to the city center and about half the girls had gone shopping the boys had gone to buy more souviners and funny T-shirts. For dinner, we went to a korean barbque place where we had a grill in each table. also, the I was still angry about the lost of my book and Jacket. But, when I got into my house I was welcome by a Pitbull puppy, a new jacket (that looked excatly the same as the old one), and the exact same book that I lost. So, it was a ok trip.

Memoir on kindness by: Torrence j

Have you ever had neighbors that were kind and caring, or as most people call them
"the good neighbors" to your family? Well, about 4 years ago when my family and I moved to our new house we walked around the block and meet all our neighbors. Then, the next day, one of our neighbors named john and Mary had knock on our door. I remember like it was yesterday, it was on a Saturday morning around 10:38 am, Johns and Mary had knock on our front door the only people in the house that were awake at the time were my mother and me. So, my mother was in her room watching TV, while I was downstairs when I heard them knocking at the door so, I had to open, the door but, before I did I looked at through the peep hole in the door to see who was on the other side.

When I saw John and Mary, I put on a smile and opened the door to greet them. But, to my surprise they both handed me a basket full of ghost chilies -- the hottest pepper in the world - , peaches, apples, tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, and fresh sun flower seeds straight from the sun flower its self. Once I took the basket of fruits, I asked, “what is all this for?” they said “it’s a welcome to the neighborhood gift basket”,. then, I said, “ why thank you for the lovely gift basket” and then, I close the door walked into the kitchen, sat the basket on the table grabbed and apple.

Then, returned to playing a game I had started just a good 96 hours ago -- I’m still wondering how I played a game that long--. Just as I had started to play the game again my mother yelled from her room, “Who was at the door?” I answered back, “It was our neighbors John and Mary, they came by to give us a welcome to the neighborhood gift basket full of fruit from their garden”. My mother said back, “Ahh How nice of them to bring us freshly grown fruit”.
So, for the next few weeks the couple came by once a week to give us fresh produce from their garden that was really promising from the looks of it. The welcome basket was gone in a week but, the ghost chilies were made into a very spicy ramen noodle dish.

About one year after we had moved in, we got a German shepherd female dog at age 2 years old. She had puppies the year later, so as a gift of gratefulness we took one of the female puppies and gave her to our neighbors John and Mary for free because they have been looking a female German shepherd puppy for a good price and all the puppies just so happened to be pure breed puppies. Also, that very same summer we bought them a Japanese cherry tree for their garden. But, about the puppies, our dog had 10 puppies in all, 5 girls and 5 boys, we sold for 500 dollars for the boys and 700 dollars for the girls because people want the girls more than the boys.
